Catwoman is one of the most recognized and best regarded female villains in comics, and is widely known as Batman’s love interest. She and Batman have a super-charged love-hate relationship, which has been featured in comics, on the television series and motion pictures. While not his arch nemesis, or even a super villain, she’s more of a small time burglar but also the ultimate feline … ur, femme fatale!

Actresses such as Julie Newmar, Eartha Kitt, Michelle Pfeiffer and Hale Berry have all portrayed this ultimate of black cats, and wearing the Catwoman costume to a Halloween party shows your naughty but powerful side. Make sure you come with a whip, and you know how to use it to great effect!

Check out a couple great costumes:

Sexy Catwoman Costume

If you wish to look like Hale Berry’s risque costume, here it is! It includes skin tight black faux leather pants with slashes to show you’ve just been in a cat fight (and won), a sexy bra top, the mask and gloves with kitty claws.

Makes you want to scratch somebody, doesn’t it? This costume is officially licensed from the movie.

Full Black Catwoman Costume

If you’re more of the full bodysuit cat burglar, try out this awesome outfit, available at the online retailer Costume Craze. Slip into this full length skin tight polyester jumpsuit and be ready to purr. Or roar!

This costume comes with the one-piece bodysuit, the character hat, the wide belt, and knee-high boot covers. Add your own black boots and black gloves (with claws, of course!), and you’ll be ready to fight and/or make out with your own batman. Super fun, and perfect for those nocturnal outings. Bring along your whip if your super hero gets out of line.

Who is Catwoman?

First known as simply The Cat, she appeared right at the beginning of Batman, in 1940, though unnamed. She is a mysterious burglar and jewel thief, who’s name is Seline Kyle. She was introduced as a sexy femme fatale into Batman’s rather loveless life – not really evil, in that she hated killing, but certainly morally ambiguous.

Just like a cat who has 9 lives, Catwoman has gone through multiple histories, remakes and alternate stories. In one, she’s originally a flight attendant, in another she was actually married to Bruce Wayne and had a baby with him, named Helena Wayne. She’s worn a green suit (symbol of evil villains), purple and black.

To be Catwoman, pick one of her 9 lives, grab your whip and claws, and have a great time this Halloween!

Looney Tunes is a Warner Brothers cartoon series that preceded the Merrie Melodies series, and is both WB’s first animated theatrical series and the second longest continuous animated series in any medium.

Click Here to See More Costumes

Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies were two series of theatrical cartoon shorts running from 1930 to 1969. Initially produced by Leon Schlessinger for distribution by Warner Bros, in 1944 the studio took the unit over entirely.

Tweety (also known as Tweety Bird and Tweety Pie) is a fictional Yellow Canary in the Warner Bros. Tweety’s popularity, like that of The Tasmanian Devil, actually grew in the years following the dissolution of the Looney Tunes cartoons.

Like most Looney Tunes characters, the cat “Sylvester” suffers from a significant speech impediment, in this case, a slobbery “S” lisp and he seems strangely drawn to selecting speech he cannot correctly say.

After the original Looney Tunes shorts, Junior would show up sporadically in later years. In the 1990s animated series Sylvester and Tweety Mysteries, Sylvester has a flashback to his childhood in the episode “A Mynah Problem”; in the flashback sequence, as with Tweet Dreams, Sylvester resembled his son physically.

The cartoon short films are timeless, entertaining and have delighted generations of Americans and people around the world. Sylvester and Tweety Bird cartoons can still be seen on cable channels in the present day along with their fellow Looney Tunes characters.

In 1988, Nickelodeon aired all the unaired cartoons in a show called Looney Tunes on Nickelodeon until 1999, when it was removed off the network for Cartoon Network. To date, Looney Tunes on Nickelodeon is the longest airing animated series on the network that was not a Nicktoon.

Even though he was Sylvester in later cartoon shorts, he was named “Thomas” in his first appearence with Tweety Bird in “Tweety Pie”.

Dr Seuss changed the nature of children’s books in the 1950s and later with the ‘Cat in the Hat’ series. He published over 40 children’s books, full with imaginative characters and frequent use of rhymed prose.

Click Here to See Cat Costumes

Dr. Seuss books turned the books into videos beginning in the 80′s. These are not like the animated “Cat in the Hat” story televised in the 1960s. These are still frames of the book illustrations.

The Cat in the Hat has got to be one of my favorites. It is a wonderful story about how a cat shows up at a child’s home one afternoon and turns the house into chaos.

I would have to say that Dr. Seuss’ writing has affected my own since I write books in a humorous albeit adult vein. I am grateful for the creativity that he sparked within me.

This silly story centers on self responsibility. The children panic because they know their mother won’t be happy if she comes home and find the house a mess. The fish fluctuates between being an annoyance and a voice of reason.

The story stars a well meaning cat who tries to release the children from an afternoon of boredom. He brings excitement, which quickly devolves into chaos…or so it seems.

Some of Dr. Seuss’s well known characters such as Horton the Elephant and Bartholomew Cubbins first appeared in magazine short stories, sometimes with different names and companions. Any examples of these stories and illustrations show how his work evolved.

Dr. Seuss was one of those rare creative geniuses who both entertained us and challenged us to open our minds. “The Cat in the Hat” is an indispensable part of the Seuss canon. A bizarre blending of Seuss’s trademark illustrations with an eerily Kafkaesque plot, “Cat” will delight both children and adults.

This book is funny because a lot of the words in it are made-up. It would be a good book to read to younger kids and have them point out the made-up words at the end. This would require them to pay attention and think.

Originally black cats were considered good luck. Only when the Christian pilgrims came along with their ideas about witches, sorcery and evil did attitudes switch and black cats became associated with bad luck. Some countries hold the good luck view and others hold the bad.

In Western Society, black cat myths are often associated with bad luck. One of the more popular myths is the one in which the black cat crosses one’s path. This portends very bad luck for that person who encountered the feline.

In the Yorkshires, a black cat was said to bring the fishermen home safely from the seas. During the most prominent part of the fishing industry in this village, black kittens were often catnapped and sold to the highest bidder (usually the wives of the fishermen) by racketeers trying to cash in on the popular superstition.

Other curious events and folklore tales are plentiful in history, which propagate myths about bad luck and black cats. King Charles I of England owned a black cat. The day the cat died, the story goes that he proclaimed, “Alas, my luck has run out. e was arrested for high treason.

Fortunately, many more stories point to the connection between good fortune and black cats. The ancient Egyptians venerated black cats and treated them as royalty.

One of the French myths is that if one has a black cat with even one white hair, Lady Luck will smile upon the owner. In most other cultures, the black cat is considered to be a symbol of fortune – a prized possession – and the owner considered to very lucky.

In places which saw few witch hunts, black cats retained their status as good luck, and are still considered as such in Japan, Britain and Ireland.
